Two undergraduate students have gained an insight into the diversity of careers at 3b construction by participating in the company’s first summer placement programme.

Having spent three months working on site with one of our Civils teams, Graeme Hoodless is returning to Heriot Watt University to begin the second year of his BEng in Civil Engineering. Graeme said: “The placement has helped give me a strong foundation for my future career. It gave me a great insight into the day-to-day work of the team and has motivated me as I begin the next year of my studies.”

Rachel Owen, who spent three months in our busy Port William office, is returning to the University of Glasgow to start the second year of her BEng in Product Design Engineering. Rachel said: “The placement has gone really well. It’s given me the opportunity to learn about the realities of working in the industry which university can’t teach. Working alongside experienced professionals has been an invaluable experience.”

Stuart Barr, Director at 3b construction, said: “3b construction is committed to nurturing the next wave of talent and hope our summer placement programme offers a taste of the breadth and depth of careers in the company. We have been impressed by the calibre of students and will look to build on this in the coming years.”
