At 3b construction, earthworks is delivered as a fully managed package that supports our own construction projects and standalone contracts across Scotland. From initial site strip to formation level, we provide the expertise, supervision and resources required to prepare sites safely, efficiently and in line with programme. Earthworks & Site Development
Our capability includes bulk excavation, topsoil strip and stockpiling, rock breaking, cut and fill operations, imported and processed Type 1 placement, drainage infrastructure, culvert diversions, road construction and finishing works including topsoiling and landscaping. We maximise efficiency by processing and reusing materials on site wherever possible, reducing waste and improving value. Whether delivering complex infrastructure works or preparing sites for commercial development, our team brings practical experience and technical understanding to every stage of the earthworks process.

All works are carried out using our modern, well maintained fleet operated by fully trained personnel holding SMSTS, SSSTS, CPCS and CSCS accreditation. As a member of the Scottish Plant Owners Association, we work to recognised industry standards with safety, quality and reliability at the forefront. Our earthworks division integrates seamlessly with our Construction, Crane Hire and Transport teams, providing clear accountability, efficient logistics and programme certainty from the ground up.

Our Civil Engineering Department offers a fully integrated service with our other divisions. We have an experienced management team and an in-house Technical Services team with a focus on off-site manufacturing and pre-assembly. Our in-house team are skilled and accredited operatives.
