New House near Carsphairn - Architect: Simon Winstanley

This is a contemporary single storey long house which is recessive in the landscape. The design uses lightweight but highly insulated steel and timber frame construction, clad in cedar weatherboarding allowed to weather to a natural silver grey colour. The roof uses pre weathered grey standing seam zinc. Windows and doors will be high performance timber framed.
Kilncroft - Glenluce

This is a new build three bedroom house with integrated garage that is being built near Glenluce. The upstairs sitting room has a glazed gable elevation leading onto an external balcony that takes advantage of the open countryside views. Downstairs there is a large open plan kitchen/dining area and further living accommodation.
Cairnharrow - Consultant: Ramsay McMichael

This project which is about to start on site, is a modern take on a traditional farmhouse. The long elevation is broken by a regular pattern of windows and gable fronted dormers. Slate roofing and white render are sympathetic to the surrounding countryside. The site itself is steeply banked, and clever use of retaining walls and access by means of a bridged walkway allows accomodation to be split over two levels.
New House - Castle Douglas - Architect: J Girgan

J Girgan Architecture have designed the house to take advantage of the sloping site with the main entrance and living area at street level with bedrooms on the lower floor at garden level. The house features slate roofs, smooth white render and cedar cladding panels.
There is a large feature glazed gable overlooking the garden.
Bargaly Cottage Palnure - Architect: AC Wolffe

Construction of this new 3 bedroom cottage, designed by AC Wolffe & Partners is about to begin. The house has an open plan living area with feature fireplace and stove, kitchen and dining room have glazed screen with doors opening out onto a patio area, bedrooms are on the first floor with a shared balcony to the gable elevation.
Dalshangan Wood - Architect: Simon Winstanley Architects

The house designed by Simon Winstanley Architects is conceived as a large traditional farmhouse form with single storey extensions and outbuilding. The house contains five bedrooms to house the whole family as well as contemporary open plan living areas to take advantage of the views and orientation.
The house and outbuilding has a traditional 40º roof pitch finished in natural slate and sandstone skews. Sandstone is also used as a basecourse and window cills. Wall finishes are generally white self-coloured render with a scraped textured finish & some cedar cladding for garage doors and at the entrance./
There is to be separate steel framed and clad cattle shed sited away from the house on lower lying ground.
The house will be designed using sustainable construction and will be very highly insulated to reduce energy consumption
Cairn Valley - Moniaive - Architect: Mark Waghorn

3b construction are building this carbon negative house at Cairn Valley, Moniaive. Its design utilises cutting edge technology to produce a home which is truly sustainable in terms of its use of materials, energy consumption, methods of construction and negative carbon footprint.

Locally sourced materials will include wool sheared from sheep on the surrounding farm and reclaimed timber. A copse of trees and outcrop of rocks will frame the view of the building, while existing dry-stone walls will extend to its interior.
